The Yacht’s Story
This is the yacht that was in the moulds when sold by Swarbricks to Maybrook Marine in early 1984. The hull with fibreglass furniture was sold to Doug Marks who completed the fitout and launched her in 1992. He sold the boat to the Grahams in 2014. Below is some more history from Dylan Graham 2014:
The hull was completed by Swarbrick in WA in 1984 and then trucked to NSW where Doug Marks completed the boat in Jervis Bay. It was then launched in 1992. It was sailed regularly in Jervis Bay, and up and down the NSW coast. I’m not sure that it strayed far beyond the NSW waters though.
Felicity and I purchased it from the Mark’s in January this year and brought it to Melbourne. It currently resides on a swing mooring at Williamstown/Hobson’s Bay. We have been members of the HBYC for the last couple of years but have not competed in Susurrus. Our plan is to head off in late October this year for a 8 month period returning to Hobart which is where we plan to settle. We are undecided as to where we will keep the boat on returning to Tassie.
As far as the boat goes… She’s obviously a Mk I, with the single spreader rig, tiller steer and rear mount engine – Z-drive, Volvo Penta 2002.
