The Yacht’s Story
2005 saw Morning Menace up on the hard at RPYC for a total refit. She was gutted and John Holder commenced completely rebuilding her. New motor, new interior etc etc etc. She was later sold to Russ Belyea who further fitted her out and she was relaunched as Rushcutter III.
Sadly Russ died shortly after completing the work and she was sold to another Russ (Peter Russ) who completed the fitout as detailed in his email below from March 2015:
Hi Simon, Hope you are well. Here is an update on my S&S 34, Hull number 11 for the S&S website. Rushcutter III was renamed Granma Bluey ( an Aboriginal nickname for the Ocean) in 2014. Her WA registration number 7822 is retained. During winter 2014, she was refitted at Emu Point Slipway with new standing and running rigging, new Barlow winches, a Wind Pilot, AIS unit and new electrical systems. Her 42 year old hand laid solid fibreglass hull was found to have no osmosis. Her owners maiden solo ocean voyage to South Australia was completed in the Summer of 2014, with more planned.
