The Yacht’s Story

My name is Jeff and I own and live on an S&S34 in Darwin. I had a stroke in 2002 and bought the yacht in 2004 with hopes of sailing away. Been living on it on and off since and seldom sail. Reality tells me to sell it but still reluctant so considering as it is unlikely that I will use it as intended.

Brief description:

Built in 82 by Swarbrick’s but can’t find a hull no. Fitted out in Sydney I think.
Was once called “Iron Maiden”, then “Margaret Sybil”, now “Mayhem” after my grandkids.

I have an old survey done at RQYS manley QLD in 1998. the boat was then called “Iron Maiden”with claimed construction date 1983. Dont have then owner’s name but believe he worked in WA mining industry. Have searched transom for a hull number to no avail. I have a feeling it may have been fitted out by Maybrook Marine in Sydney but have no
evidence. Measured all sails last year but lost all data when my PC had a haemorrhage. Measured the mast today, P = 10.65m to masthead sheave, I = 11.75m. This is consistent with recalled measurement of No 2 jib luff of 12m.
