More adventures of Miss Cath
Miss Cath refitted, back in the water and Cruising again.
Cruising has resumed after the yacht Miss Cath, owned by Carol & Phil Michelides, has undergone a refit and commenced a journey to the Sunshine Coast. Miss Cath is currently in Darwin until October/November 2015, when the trade winds normally allow some wind direction changes to get to Cape York and down the east coast. Phil is actively looking for crew to join him on the next leg of his journey. Continue reading

Reveille II
Have made it to Adelaide. Has been very hard going so far but the weather does look as if summer might be here at last. There has been a High (the same one) in the Bight for several days now with SE winds for a change!!
Mendana – Journal #4
Here’s hoping that 2006 treats you well.
New Year’s Day 2006 found us struggling with mild hangovers and incipient seasickness whilst leaving Port Fairy in Victoria, heading for King Island off the north-western end of Tasmania. For the first few hours we both wished we’d indulged our instincts and stayed in bed. As it turned out we had one of the best overnight sails we’ve endured since leaving Perth and arrived in Grassy Harbour at the bottom of King Island just as our fair?weather window closed and the south-westerlies climbed up to gale force.
Reveille II
Our journey around the south of OZ continues at slower rate than planned. The weather has not been kind with one cold front after another with hardly enough time in between to get anywhere! We were holed up in Eden for 2 weeks and another 10 days at Refuge Cove (Wilsons Promontory). We arrived at Apollo Bay (Cape Otway) during a gale and had a heart stopping time getting into the harbour – surf across the entrance and 35 Knts!! We are now at Portland and hope to leave in the morning to head up the SA coast to Kangaroo Island. Would like to be there for Christmas but not that confident as the forecasts are not that promising – may end up putting in somewhere.
Reveille II
We currently at Crookhaven just north of Jervis Bay. Had planned on being in Eden by now but the weather has other ideas. We have had lots of northerly quarter winds which is good, but every few days a small trough comes through which gives us a brief southerly change. At present the wind is out of the north but at gale force so we are sitting tight !!
Our stay in Sydney was mainly visiting family (we hired a car for the week) and not the most relaxing as the traffic is unreal!! When in Sydney we go to Middle Harbour and a small marina at Cammeray. They have moorings there with basic facilities ashore and a secure place to leave the dinghy. The staff are very friendly and can relate to the cruising folk. While in the area we saw both LORELEI and IMPULSE on moorings. Both of these S&Ss are on the Associations records.
