SOLD – Blondie

We have achieved almost everything we set out to with Blondie, being West Australian Offshore Champions 3 years in a row, and winning almost every major ocean race on the West Coast over the years.  For a variety of personal reasons, we feel it is time to give someone else a chance to sail her and hopefully also compete as we have done.  She was really built for cruising more than racing, so is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, good oven, hot water, comfy berths, enclosed head and shower etc. She is one of the few affordable size yachts that can truly be a long distance cruiser as well as race offshore at the very highest levels.

I have a speadsheet (available upon request) showing a build and fitout cost of over AUD$500,000. Even being economical with the fitout, an equivalent standard new boat would be at least $450,000, so the asking price is well under 1/2 price.  All fittings are to the highest standard – the tracks, blocks etc are sized for a 50′ boat.  The sails are highest quality and mostly new or very nearly so.  She is the boat on the “new S&S 34” part of the website, so you can see how she was built – under survey and to Cat 0 spec.

The price when listed with brokers will be AUD$220,000 but for those who contact me direct via the website I will offer a 10% discount. Also I will refund an economy return airfare from anywhere in the world to a successful purchaser.

S&S 34 CLASS FLAG FOR SALE

The Association has commissioned a run of official Class Flags, based on the original design and colours.  Rather than being sewn, these flags use the latest UV resistant printing technology.  They have a middle lining to prevent “see through” of the pattern, and a velco strip to wrap around a stay plus ties.  The design is such that the Velcro wrapped end matches the pattern on the other side and becomes invisible.

They are offered for sale to members at cost, being $69. + postage

Non-members are welcome to purchase for $79 + postage.

Postage is $10 to anywhere in the world.  Just email our Treasurer Rob Eliott-Lockhart  casrel@iinet.net.au who will give you the details for payment and send the flags to you.  As our Past Presidents Roger Raymond and Dick Newnham demonstrate, they are magnificent flags.

Lionheart for sale – Your Chance to Own a Piece of Maritime History!

Lionheart Is For Sale.

Regrettably and, indeed, very reluctantly we have come to the decision to sell. Lionheart. She is a wonderful sailing vessel but an impending relocation and change of circumstances militate against holding on to her.

Lionheart is the S&S 34 that carried Jesse Martin around the world to become the youngest solo, non-stop, circumnavigator. (Jessica Watson has since overtaken that record – in another S&S 34!)

Yes, the S&S is a very sturdy and sea-kindly vessel. Jesse sailed with us recently. It was a highly nostalgic afternoon for him as he reacquainted himself with the little home he had lived in, all alone, for nine months, all those years ago. We were able to show him his pencilled phone numbers, email addresses and reminders still on the cabin ceiling.

When we bought Lionheart, in 2011, she was in a sad and shabby state. We have spent a lot of time and money restoring her to something of her former glory – a list of the works we have completed can be found below.

She is currently located in Queenscliff, Victoria. We are seeking expressions of interest and will gladly show her to genuine buyers. Please contact me, Patrick Roberts, in the first instance, on mobile: 0438 387 001. email: patrick.roberts@fastmail.fm

Works Completed on Lionheart
