Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club’s premier ocean race the Bunbury & Return was run for the 66th year last weekend, with a fleet of 26 of Western Australia’s most competitive ocean racers. It was won by Blondie by a margin of an hour on IRC over the next boat, a new Sydney 47 named Endorphin. Also in the fleet were a new Ker39, an Archambault 40 and the usual Beneteau Firsts, custom IRC racers etc.
So S&S 34s are still out there being competitive and winning major races against brand new boats! We are hoping this will encourage more to get out and compete.
If so please email John Burns, who has entered in his S&S 36 and would love some 34s for company. His email is: email@example.com
Jon Sanders is racing his S&S 39 Perie Banou II from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro, crew member Robin Morritt (on secondment from Blondie) has been writing updates, they have had an exciting time, to read more click here
Spirit of Rockingham is currently for sale. This is the S&S 34 that was custom built for Jamie Dunross who completed a solo circumnavigation of Australia in her. Over $500,000 was spent building and customising this vessel which is now available for only $130,000. For more details, please click kere
The boat was sold to a Sydney buyer who tragically had a fatal accident 1 week before taking delivery of the boat.
