The Yacht's Story

About the Owners
From Peter Tait Oct 08:
A
brief note to introduce myself and let you know my history.
I
started out on 34's in 1972 as one of the inaugural crew members of the then
Army Yacht Reveille, having also been involved in the construction and fit
out.
There were many hours working up Reveille after her launching at Royal
Freshwater Bay. Those days were often spent on the river and outside with
Morning Star, Meltemi, Hellfire, Perie Banou.
Colonel John Tout was the skipper for many of
the sailing hour we did. The inaugural crew was Major Bert Cassidy, Sgt Tony
Waldren, Sgt Bill Hunter and myself (on the foredeck).
I
later went on to sailing on Reliance an S&S 42 and I think the first boat
built by the Swarbrick Family. I was on board Reliance when she was dismasted
on an Albany race I think this was in 1975. I later went on to
sailing on Lady Dawn and Castille and did the occasional trip on many other
yachts including Touché, Norlee, Zergoina. Most of the time was on ocean
races, Geraldton, Naturaliste, Bunbury City Classic, Bunbury Return and of
course the Albany.
I
live in the southern suburbs and I grew up on Cockburn Sound so the Cockburn
Regatta was for many years a popular place with me.
My work now puts me in the northern hemisphere for much
of the year but I am always glad to get home and see the Goose.
